Recreational Drugs of Mighty Romans
Recreational Drugs of Mighty Romans
Romans had their own LSD. Women knew the morning-after pill. Marcus Aurelius was an opium addict.

Opium is known to humanity since neolithic times. It is produced by a plant called Papaver somniferum.

Harvesting of opium hasn’t changed since neolithic times. The bulb is first incised with a blade. This causes the opium “gum” to ooze out and dry. The dried “gum” is harvested and further dried.

What's your reaction?
