Princess Alice of Battenberg
Princess Alice of Battenberg
Princess Alice, the mother of the late Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Phillip, had a strange and difficult life which included rescuing 300 Jews from the Nazis in Greece. She was born with congenital deafness, diagnosed with schizophrenia.

She spent much of her life with these treatments and was frowned upon by family members and others across Europe.

However, even though she went through a difficult life, she managed to make a difference. After her husband's death, she became a nun and began to perform religious functions.

Even though her daughters were married to Nazi commanders and supported Nazism, she was against this ideology and participated in the resistance process. When the Nazis arrived in Greece, she hid Jews in her castle in Athens. inevitably, Nazi officials came to inspect the castle, and if they did, the Jews would be discovered. What solution did the princess come up with? Tell the truth! She used her "schizophrenic attacks" to drive the guards away, saying that they could not search the place because there were Jews there, who could not be discovered. The Nazis didn't think that was true and since she was labeled a schizophrenic, they simply ignored it.

With this somewhat unusual method, Princess Alice managed to save more than 300 Jews during the occupation of Greece.
